New Partnership Brings Real-Time Tracking to Pharmacy Fleet

The UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain, Well Pharmacy, has partnered with telematics service provider, Airmax Remote, to launch live in-vehicle information across its fleet.

Under the five-year supply agreement, on-board diagnostic technology will be introduced throughout the pharmacy chain’s commercial delivery fleet comprising 450 LCV vehicles across 700 branches in the UK.

The live information will allow the company to track a range of vehicle specific information, including efficiency and utilisation, and make early interventions with repair and maintenance to ensure minimal disruption to medication deliveries.

Brian James, fleet and home delivery manager at Well Pharmacy, said: “We make over four million prescription deliveries each year to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

When it comes to delivering medication to a patient, failure is not an option. So making the most effective utilisation of our fleet is essential.

“We have selected Airmax Remote as our partner for telematics, and the services that they provide will allow us to manage our fleet effectively, and influence driver behaviour to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.”

Additional features, such as remote vehicle diagnostics, will be delivered and support the fleets’ maintenance contracts by monitoring vehicle specific fault codes and capture accurate mileage from its vehicles.

The aim is to consolidate all this information and provide it directly to the leasing company to manage their pooled mileage scheme and reduce their service and maintenance costs.

Brian continues: “We've been impressed by the proactive approach shown by Airmax in finding the right solution for our business, and the positive approach shown to retrofitting over 450 vehicles at separate locations across the UK in tight timescales.”
